Why your restaurant needs its own website
In Geneva, the first step of a meal happens online. People type “restaurant near me”, “brunch Eaux-Vives” or “table for tonight”, compare the photos, check the hours and the menu, then decide. Without a clear, fast website, you let that choice be made at a better-presented competitor.
An Instagram page or a listing on a booking platform is no substitute for a website: there you rent attention, with no control over your image, your data or the commission taken on every cover. Your website is the only channel you truly own, the one where people book directly, with no middleman.
In Geneva, the stakes are also linguistic and competitive: an international clientele, cross-border commuters and tourists who decide quickly, often from their phone, between several addresses. A slow, dated website that is hard to read on mobile costs you covers every evening, without you ever seeing it in your figures.
The features that drive bookings
On a restaurant website, every element pushes towards a booking or a visit. Built mobile-first, it puts forward what guests are looking for most, the menu, the way to book and the directions to get there. The building blocks I put in place:
- Always up-to-date menus, editable in a few clicks, without calling a provider every time the season changes.
- Online booking, directly on your website or connected to your existing tool, to capture the table without needless commission.
- A polished photo gallery, visuals that whet the appetite, optimised to stay fast on mobile.
- Opening hours, public holidays and directions, Google Maps, route and one-tap calling straight from the phone.
- Private hire and events, a dedicated page for groups, birthdays and corporate meals.
- Bilingual FR/EN, essential in a city as international as Geneva.
Being found at the right moment: local SEO
A beautiful but invisible website does not fill the dining room. I work on your visibility where the decision is made: an optimised Google Business Profile, consistent information (name, address, hours), photos, review management and local markup so you appear in the Google Maps pack on “restaurant + neighbourhood” searches.
This mechanism rests on the same foundations as my website design and my approach to local SEO in Geneva: a fast, structured website built for proximity search.
What I put in place for a restaurant
What changes every week is updated without me; what brings guests in is said plainly. What I put in place:
- The menu and the weekly menu, entered by the team. In Lumineth Hub, with a preview before publishing. At The Club, the menu can be prepared at the weekend to go live on Monday, and a reminder goes out by e-mail if the next week is not ready.
- Opening hours kept in one place. Standard weeks per season, public holidays, exceptional closures: the site shows them from that single source, and they can be sent to the Google listing with a preview before sending.
- Booking requests that get through. At The Club, the e-mail leaves from the restaurant’s own host, then the request reaches the Hub; if the Hub does not answer, the e-mail still goes out.
- One page per local search, if it is true for the place. Terrace, open on Sunday, type of cuisine: in Geneva these searches count in the hundreds per month (Ubersuggest, October 2026). Never a terrace or a view that does not exist.
- Markup that Google and AI read. Restaurant, menu, opening hours and calendar evenings, with photo, price and time (schema.org).
- Fast, accessible, easy for Google and AI assistants to read. I aim for 100 on Lighthouse, on mobile and desktop.
Frequently asked questions
Who can build my restaurant’s website in Geneva?
Lumineth, in Geneva, as an independent: I design the site with the team, put it online and run it. Live since 5 October 2026: The Club Restaurant, in Chêne-Bourg (theclubgeneva.ch), described in The Club Restaurant case.
The team publishes the weekly menu itself; opening hours, events and booking and private hire forms are kept in Lumineth Hub.
How can I update my restaurant’s menu and opening hours without going through a provider?
In Lumineth Hub: you edit the menu, the weekly menu or the opening hours, check the preview, then publish. Hours are entered once and the site shows them everywhere; they can also be sent to your Google listing, with a preview before sending.
How much does a website for a restaurant in Geneva cost?
A restaurant showcase website is the most accessible option; the budget evolves with the features (online booking, multilingual, gallery, integrations). I offer a first conversation to estimate your project precisely.
Do I need a website if I am already on Instagram and a booking platform?
Yes. These channels are useful but rented: they take commissions and you control neither your data nor your image. Your website is the only channel you own, where people book directly and where Google ranks you locally.
Can online booking and delivery be integrated?
Yes. I integrate booking directly on the website or via your existing tool, and I can link your delivery services. The goal is to capture as many direct bookings as possible, without needless commission.
How do I appear on Google Maps for my restaurant?
By optimising your Google Business Profile (up-to-date information, photos, reviews) and backing it with a fast website marked up for local search. That is what moves you up in the Maps pack on “restaurant + neighbourhood” searches.
